Biography

Jazz trombonist, teacher, conductor and composer Robert Lamb was born in Cork in 1931. He began his career performing in jazz bands led by, among others, Woody Herman, Buddy Rich and Stan Kenton.

His compositions, which are jazz-influenced, include works for symphony orchestra and jazz band. His Children of Lir for symphony orchestra and narrator was recorded by the National Symphony Orchestra of Ireland and released on the Naxos label in 1998.

Robert Lamb has been Director of Jazz Studies at Trinity College, London, since 1982. He is also Professor of Contemporary Music Studies at Detmold Conservatoire, Germany.
