Multi award-winning Portuguese composer João Pedro Oliveira delivers a workshop in electronic composition as part of Music Current 2024.

In this workshop participants will analyse different models of composition and interaction between instruments and electronics. The concept of musical gesture will be used as the link between the instruments and the electronic sounds. Examples will be taken from several works of the composer.

This workshop is suitable for musicians, composers and concert-goers, or anyone with an interest in electronic music and how it is composed, or how technology can be integrated into composition and performance.

My work will not break with the past or confront it... It only tries to communicate something very personal that may not even be communicable. It is my interior energy that compels me to write music. And even being aware of all my imperfections and hesitations as a human being, I try to create something that may have a little glimpse of beauty.
