NCH Presents: Stanford Centenary Series curated by Finghin Collins (3)
Kevin Barry Recital Room, National Concert Hall
A series of three chamber concerts, curated by pianist Finghin Collins, marking the centenary of the death of the Irish composer Sir Charles Villiers Stanford.
The final concert in the series presents an array of musicians in a diverse selection of pieces by Stanford, Schumann (one of his favourite composers) and one his most eminent pupils, Rebecca Clarke. Two short Irish song-cycles will provide contrast from the predominantly instrumental focus of this concert, while the series concludes with Stanford’s sixth string quartet, composed during a fishing holiday in Northumberland.
Featuring artists: Finghin Collins, piano ; Benjamin Russell, baritone ; Sharon Carty, mezzo-soprano ; Andreea Banciu, viola ; ConTempo Quartet.
Presented by NCH.
