Galway County Council on behalf of GALWAY MUSIC EDUCATION PARTNERSHIP COMHPHAIRTIOCHT OIDEACHAS CEOIL NA GAILLIMH in partnership with County Galway VEC, Galway City Council and City of Galway VEC supported by the Arts Council wish to appoint a Composer in Residence.<br />The Galway Music Education Partnership was established in February 2011 with the aim of applying to Music Generation. Music Generation is Ireland's National Music Education Programme. It helps children and young people access music education in their own locality. Music Generation provides funding and support to Music Education Partnerships throughout Ireland to develop local music education services. The GMEP hopes to apply in the next call for Music Generation, in the meantime, the GMEP now wish to pilot a number of key projects including a Composer in Residence.<br />The aims of the Galway Music Education Partnership are;<ol>
<li>To provide a choice of access to a high quality and diverse performance music education programme for young people throughout Galway city, county and offshore islands. Our approach is to provide an inclusive, bilingual music education, which is Accessible, Affordable and Available in Local Areas</li>
<li>To establish a sustainable music education programme by working with strategic partners in local areas including existing music education providers who will invest in and participate in the delivery of the GMEP plan in their communities</li>
<li>To create an environment and an infrastructure which supports and nurtures musicians and music teachers and respects a broad range of musical genres and innovative approaches to teaching and learning. This environment will put music at the heart of community life and provide performance and progression opportunities for young people, musicians and music educators</li>
</ol>Galway MEP has conducted an extensive mapping of needs in relation to music education and young people in Galway city and county.  Based on the needs identified, Galway MEP drafted a strategic Music Education Plan. One of the actions of this plan is to appoint a Composer in residence to work with the existing music schools and youth orchestras in Galway city and county in a project that would add value to the existing music education practice and would focus on contemporary composition.<br />

<title>Composer in Residence, Youth Music - partnership project, Ireland</title>

The Composer in Residence, Youth Music, is a partnership between Kerry County Council, Co-funded by the Arts Council, supported by Kerry Education Services, Institute of Technology, Tralee and the Kerry Diocesan Youth Service.<br />Composer in Residence, Youth Music - partnership project; the target age group is 13-18; the focus is on developing creative music composition, in contemporary music. The target groups will be identified by Kerry Music Education Partnership.<br />The Residency will be a part-time position (20 hr week, 5 hours of which is for the Composers own work development) which will allow time both for the Composers' own work in addition to engagement and interaction with the target groups. As part of this Residency, the successful applicant will be asked to stimulate greater awareness of the art of creative composition as well as facilitating opportunities for young people to engage with composition and performance. Composers will be based in both classroom and community settings (workshops, master classes, mentoring and performances). The Composers ability to mentor must be demonstrated. A contract for services fee of euro 12,000 inclusive of travel and expenses is offered for a 20 week period envisaged to commence in September 2013.<br /><em>Requirements</em><br />Proven track record of composition and performance<br />Ability to engage young people in musical composition<br />Experience with youth music genres (pop, rap, hip-hop) an advantage<br /><em>Selection process</em> The position is open to both Individuals and Musical Groups. Composers need to submit details of previous work to date as follows:<ul>
<li>A typed curriculum vitae (maximum 3 pages);</li><li>Examples of own work (include recordings, links to websites etc.);</li> <li>Programmes or published articles, such as reviews;</li><li>A typed proposal outlining artistic ideas and approaches (two typed pages); this should include an outline of the benefits of the residency to her/his stage of development as a Composer and ideas in relation to engagement of young people during the residency.</li>
</ul>Please note: Applicants must submit three copies of CV and proposal. In the case of submission by a musical group, three copies of ONE overall CV and proposal are required on behalf of the group.<br /> <em>Interviews</em><br />Applicants will be short-listed on the basis of their submissions and short-listed applicants will be called for interview on Wednesday 3 July 2013.<br />In advance of the residency the following will be agreed:<br /> Goals, roles and responsibilities and agreed criteria for the Composer in residence and the Arts Office;<br /> Agreed programme of work that is flexible and responsive;<br />Administrative support from the Arts Office and Kerry Education Services;<br />Ongoing review and evaluation; regular meetings.<br />This is a part-time residency, which will require flexible working hours.<br /> <em>Summary</em><br />Budget information<br />The total budget for the residency is euro 13,000. This amount is fully inclusive of the Composer's fee -inclusive of all travel and expenses incurred - of euro 12,000 (including VAT) and an allowance for promotion of residency outcomes, public events, materials and other related costs of euro 1,000.<br /> The successful Composer will be required to provide Kerry County Council with a tax clearance certificate prior to signing of contracts.<br />

Hilltown New Music Festival are inviting all composers based in Ireland to submit original works for the Hilltown ensemble-in-residence 2013. Specifically, we are looking for scores for Soprano, Cello, Chamber Organ OR Harpsichord OR Digital / MIDI keyboard. The work should use all three musicians of the ensemble and the duration of the work can be up to approximately 10 minutes. Live electronics or fixed tape part are optional.<br />
Selected works will be performed by the ensemble-in-residence in a series of concerts on 20-21 July during the Hilltown New Music Festival.<br />
Submission requirements:<br /> 
Performance materials (one score, one set of parts, and any other materials required), a short programme note (80 words max.) and a short composer bio (80 words max.), should be sent in hard copy only to the postal address below. No

The Val Tidone Summer Camp is an innovative program of summer music courses whose aim is to further international cultural exchanges. All active participants must attend at least one course (Compulsory Course). There are no restrictions on style, genre or technique; priority will be given to pieces displaying innovation and creativity. The music should present an intermediate level of technical difficulty. From the entries received, 100 will be selected for publication.<br /> The call will result in a publication, which will be an amusing and popular album containing miniature variations by 100 composers worldwide. The variations will contain a multitude of examples on different points of composition, providing a rich repertoire for piano teaching, performance and sight reading and also for general appreciation. The album will be suitable for use by piano students and teachers, composition enthusiasts, and music lovers in general.<br />

The Arcomis International Brass Event will take place in Cardiff 10-13 October 2013. The event will be modelled upon the Arcomis International Flute Event 2011 and full event details will be given at the event launch in March. Composers of any age, nationality and experience are invited to submit works for any brass instrument or combination of brass instruments, with or without piano accompaniment or electronics, to the Arcomis International Brass Event Call for Works.<br /> Those works submitted that are of exceptional quality will be considered for both performance at the event and for print and online publication. <li><strong>Bursary Awards</strong><br />
Deadline: 11 July 2013<br />The window for making an application opens on 11 June 2013.<br />There are a number of awards available including:
<ul><li>Opera Bursary Award</li></ul>The Arts Council provides Bursary Awards in order to assist individual artists in the development of their art practice. The award emphasises the value and benefit to an artist's development that is derived from a focused period of 	engagement with their practice.<br /> Guidelines for each award are published on the available funding section on our website.<br />Please note: Applications will only be accepted through the Arts Council's online services	website. Applicants who have not previously used this system must register in 	advance of making an application. It is recommended that applicants allow 	five working days for registration prior to making an application.</li>
<li><strong>Travel and Training Awards</strong><br />
Deadline: Ongoing, see web site for specifics.<br />
Open to artists and people working professionally in the arts 'to support training and other professional development opportunities through international travel' as well as 'individuals/organisations who want to bring in specialists from abroad to deliver high-level training or mentoring directed at the professional development of artists'. Awards max. euro12,000.</li>

The Documentation Centre for Contemporary Music (Cdmc)s pleased to inform you about the competition organized by the association "Les Amis de Maurice Ohana".<br />
The competition is open to composers of all nationalities, without any age limit.<br />
Each composer must submit a choral piece in three versions of increasing difficulty (easy, intermediate and advanced levels).<br />
