The Skidmore Jazz Studentship is open for applications. It is one of a number of specialist arts residencies and funding opportunities currently available from the Arts Council through its Support for Individual Artists Programme.<br />
In partnership with An Chomhairle Ealaion, the Arts Council will send one budding jazz musician to the Skidmore Jazz Institute to attend its two week jazz education programme. Held every summer it offers students of all ages one-to-one lessons with world-class performers, as well as attending sessions in improvisation and composition. As part of the two week programme, students also have the opportunity to attend guest master classes.<br />  
The Support for the Individual Artist Programme offers a collection of schemes designed to meet the needs of individual artists working in Northern Ireland. The current funding round, including applications for residencies, opens 14 December 2009 to 28 January 2010.<br />

The successful applicant, as well as demonstrating the necessary musical requirements for the programme in question, will also have a proven ability to interact in a challenging classroom context.  A capacity to work with voice or strings will also be an advantage.<br />

Continuing with their commitment to an annual showcase of the new and exciting music of Irish composers, Crash Ensemble would like to open a call for submissions from all Irish composers and composers resident in Ireland. There will be no age limit. Works must comprise of instruments from within the ensemble (see below) and should not exceed 15'. The piece can also include electronics and visuals (single screen) but would ideally not contain a click-track. There will be a small prize of euro500 for the best submission.<br />
Free State VI will be held in early Spring 2011. Submissions must be sent with a PDF score (and MP3 if available) to <a href="mailto:info@crashensemble.com">info@crashensemble.com</a> by the above deadline. Please put 'Free State VI Submission' in the subject line.<br />
