Decibel, the University of Ulster ensemble in residence, visits the Magee Campus on 2 March.

Formed in 2002 by Northern Irish composer Ed Bennett, this collective of performers and composers are known for their exciting live performances and the diversity of their musical influences.   Their concerts combine live instrumental ensemble music with electronics and in some cases live video mixing. On their visit to the Magee campus they will present a busy programme of performances, workshops and outreach events including a lunchtime concert on Tuesday 2 March featuring acoustic contemporary music for piano, saxophone and percussion by composers such as Louis Andriessen, Joe Cutler and Ed Bennett.

The second concert, an evening of acoustic and electronic music, takes place in Void Gallery, Patrick Street, Derry at 8.00pm on Thursday 4 March.  It features collaborations with DEME, the School of Creative Arts’ own interdisciplinary performance collective.

The musicians will also deliver a programme of workshops in local schools as well as working alongside music students at the School of Creative Arts.
