Tempered Festival Belfast

Moving on Music present the second edition of its contemporary music week, Tempered, from 1–5 November in Belfast.

The week includes concerts and screenings, and features a range of local and international performers.

The renowned New York string quartet, ‘JACK’, perform a programme on 2 November of work by Caroline Shaw, Julia Wolfe, John Zorn, and Irish composer Peter Rosser (1970–2014), whose second string quartet (2012) was originally written for and premiered by JACK . The quartet will also tour the programme to Derry, Galway and Dublin on 3, 4 and 5 November.

A new work by Andrew Hamilton ‘d’, commissioned by Moving on Music, will be premiered by Belfast-based new music group Hard Rain on 3 November in an all-Irish programme of works, which includes works by Kevin O’Connell, Piers Hellawell, Greg Caffrey, Karen Power, Ian Wilson and Ryan Molloy.

Also included is a celebration of Erik Satie with ‘Following The Velvet Gentleman’ on 4 November, Thomas Strønen’s ‘Time is a Blind Guide’ on 5 November, and a screening and live music soundtrack to ‘Football as Never Before’ on 1 November; a 1971 portrait of Man United legend George Best.
