In the Irish epic, ‘Buile Suibhne’ (Mad Sweeney) Christian and pagan cultures clash. The ‘Sweeney’ epic is the trigger for many of Frank Corcoran’s compositions including his third wind quintet, ‘Sweeney’s Wind Cries’ and the electro-acoustic ‘Sweeney’s Farewell’. Other works on this CD of chamber and electro-acoustic music include his ‘Quasi Una Missa’, Piano Trio, ‘Balthazar’s Dream’ and ‘Rosenstock Lieder’. |
