Belfast-born Ian Wilson is one of the strongest voices in the younger generation of Irish composers. His piano trios were composed 'at a time of new-found certainty and direction in my writing, where abstraction and technique as an end in itself were superseded by a desire to relate my music to more overtly personal experience'.
